Raiders Headed to the Minto

by Aidan Rai

The Raiders have emerged as the RMLL junior A champs and will be headed to Langley to compete in the Minto cup tournament. The game seven finale was as thrilling as anyone could have hoped for with the stout defenses of both teams taking center stage.

Though the Mounties exploded out of the gate with two goals within the first five minutes, the score only rested at 3-2 in their favour after two periods. In the final frame it was do or die time for the Raiders.  If they failed to put any goals up on the board then the title would slip through their fingers.  However, the Raiders did not only come out to play in the third period, they came out with something to prove.  They came out to irrefutably solidify themselves as the number one team in the league.  They shutout the Mounties in the third and scored four goals off of the sticks of Levi Anderson, Adam Wolf, and Safo Arthur.  When the final seconds ticked off the clock, the Raiders were celebrating a 6-3 victory as well as a league championship.

After a week to soak in their accomplishments, the Raiders have arrived in Langley for the Minto cup opening ceremonies alongside the Coquitlam Adanacs, the Orangeville Northmen, and the Victoria Shamrocks. Their first game will commence tomorrow where they will take on the Adanacs.
